I believe in the power of words (surprise I’m a writer!) We all tend to throw a lot of words around about life, but sometimes we seem to forget their full meaning. Each Thursday, I like to look at the words we use and examine what their meaning really is. All definitions are provided by our dear, omniscient friend Google.

A lot of people say they hope for a great life. A lot of people say they hope their dreams will come true. A lot of people will say they hope to get the things they want.
But do they expect it?
Hope isn’t a passive verb. It isn’t meant to be the tool of passive people who make themselves feel like they are doing their part because they simply want things.
Hope is for active people. Hope is for people who expect the best. Hope is for people who believe the things they want will come true. These people expect it to happen because they are also the doers – the ones who go out and make things happen. The ones who go out and create reasons to expect the things they hope for.
Next time you say you hope for something, ask yourself, do you expect it? If not, what are you going to do about it?
